A team of Oxford University researchers have found that high doses of Vitamin B6, B9 (folic acid) and B12 can limit brain shrinkage as we get older, preventing Alzheimers disease.

Homocysteine is broken down by vitamin B, so researchers based their study on whether high doses of B6, 9 and 12 could prevent brain shrinkage in 270 pensioners suffering from memory lapses.

Brain scans were carried out throughout the trial which determined if there was change in the size of the brain.
The study proved that those who took the vitamin B supplement experienced 30% less shrinkage in the brain. Memory tests were also conducted which also showed that the ability to recall a list was easier for those using B Vitamins.
