Losing weight need not be a chore. We look at easy ways to boost your weight loss simply by following a few sneaky tricks.

1. Find a passion -

If you can find a hobby that keeps you fit then weight loss can become really easy. If you enjoy dancing for instance, you could check out your local fitness centre to see if they hold dance exercise classes.

Or if you are more the outdoors type, horse riding, cycling or even walking will burn hundreds of calories per hour.

2. Get pumped -

Weight training will not turn you into Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it will help you lose weight. The reason? The more muscle you have, the more your body naturally burns calories. Don't be afraid to walk over to the weights area in a gym and start working out with some dumbbells. Just make sure they are heavy enough so that you find it hard to do more than 10 repetitions of any particular exercise.

3. Stop dieting -

Although this sounds odd, a diet usually involves cutting out certain foods or limiting yourself to only a few choices. In the long run this is usually not sustainable, instead just aim to eat smaller portions and still have the occasional treat. Many people have had success with fat binders such as Proactol, which can cut down a percentage of fat you eat with no change to your existing diet. Read more about Proactol.

4. Eat small and often -

"Minimeals" eaten 6 times per day have a far greater effect on the metabolism then just eating three regular meals per day. Just make sure each meal has around 15-20 grams of protein which will leave you feeling fuller for longer. Protein takes longer to digest and also helps build muscle.

5. Follow the 90% to 10% rule -

A great tip from one of our regular contributors. "If you watch what you eat 90% of the time, then you don’t have to worry about the other 10%." - Sandra Barker, Maidenhead.

6. Eat at the table not at the sofa -

Don't be tempted to snack in front of the TV. Instead, even if you just want a bag of crisps, set the table as if you are going to sit down for a regular meal.

You will be surprised at how much this has an effect on cutting down regular snacking. It can be all too easy to munch through a couple of hundred calories while watching your favourite soap or film.

7. Drink up -

Dehydration often causes the same effects as hunger and can be easily mistaken. Next time you feel you need to snack, drink a glass of ice cold water instead. Wait 10 minutes and see if you still feel hungry.

8. Do it for yourself -

Losing weight for someone else is going to be harder than wanting to lose weight for yourself. Try and create a mental picture of how you want to look and focus on your end goal. A healthy frame of mind is key before embarking on a rapid weight loss diet.

9. Supplement with a weight loss aid -

For an extra boost try supplementing your diet with an natural appetite suppressant or a fat binder. The two most popular weight loss tablets are Hoodia Gordonii and Proactol.

Hoodia acts as a natural appetite suppressant, and is designed to stop hunger dead in its tracks.

Is hunger the reason why your diet is failing?

It can be hard to control hunger pangs when you're trying to drop those pounds, especially if you limit your calorie intake by too much too soon. So is there anything you can do to keep your appetite at bay, and control bingeing?

Stop hunger by eating little, often! - Plan your meals in advance and aim to eat 5-6 small meals per day. By planning three small, meals and two healthy snacks you'll avoid fluctuations in blood sugar levels that can bring on hunger pangs.

If you're stuck for ideas, or need help with calorie counting, joining an online weight loss community might be the best place start. Our pick of the best is Tesco Diets, who offer a personalised diet plan based on your current height, weight, and activity levels. Membership is available from just £1.50 per week, visit the Tesco Diets website for more information.

Here are our best tips on how to stop hunger:

Stop hunger by eating more protein - Foods which are high in protein, such as chicken, eggs, turkey, and fish, take longer to digest and leave you feeling fuller for longer. Studies have shown that people who consume a breakfast containing at least 20g of protein (3 scrambled eggs for example) eat fewer total calories during the rest of the day.

However, eggs contain high amounts of cholesterol and fat. Whey protein powder, which is made from skimmed milk is a far better option for those watching their figure.

Stop hunger by increasing exercise - 'Phantom' hunger can often occur when we feel down or bored. A small bout of high intensity exercise, such as a brisk walk or jog, can release chemicals in the brain known as endorphins. These can cause a natural high and are known to subdue hunger.

Stop hunger by drinking enough water - Dehydration is often mistaken for hunger, and can cause you to experience similar physical effects. Drinking a glass of cold water has also been shown to boost metabolism for up to an hour.

Stop hunger with Hoodia Gordonii extract - Hoodia is the most potent all-natural appetite suppressant available. There has been a huge amount of media attention over recent years, which has brought this African cactus plant into the spotlight.

Scientifically proven to suppress appetite, and available without prescription, Hoodia is a safe and popular choice for those looking to suppress their appetite.

Keeping a food diary

Keeping a food diary is an easy way to watch what you eat, and can help stay focused and motivated when trying to lose weight. However, keeping to the facts are the key. Start by recording what you are eating now, prior to you changing your diet.

Keep a detailed food diary for a whole 7 days, and jot down each and every one of your meals and snacks day by day, and what time you eat.

Food Diary top tip 1– Be honest!

If you always have a takeaway once a week, don't suddenly substitute it with salad! Have your takeaway and write down a precise description of it, such as:

8:30 pm - Chinese curry, egg fried rice, and one portion of noodles.

Food Diary top tip 2 – Chuck out the weighing scales!

Some things will be more effortless than others to list, as they come in convenient-to-describe portions, such as "1 tin of tuna" or "small tin of rice pudding" For the other things, do not bother weighing or measuring; simply note how much of your plate something covers - for example, "half a plate of fries" or "a bowl of chicken soup".

If you're cooking, write down how you cook; whether your bacon is fried or grilled, for example. Note the time of day when you ate it, and try not to leave anything out.

Food Diary top tip 3 - Don't miss out the little things

Be particularly wary of things which you hardly notice - the cappuccino and the muesli bar on the way to work, the mid-afternoon biscuits with your cuppa, the things which the kids haven't quite finished but which you polish off.

Remember the milk and sugar in your hot drinks, and any alcohol you may have. It seems tedious; all the same, keeping a food diary like this is a good technique to pinpoint those things which could be simple to alter as well as the things which may be harder.

Stopping bad habits

Food diaries can also highlight any bad habits which may threaten your diet.

Wait until the end of the week before you look at your diary, and then read it through when you've got some time to think about it. You could be pretty surprised. Did you honestly eat all that chocolate, and drink that much wine?

Could you have possibly had that many slices of bread in one day? Just make sure you use the information wisely and don’t rush and change too many things at once. The worst thing you can do is punish yourself. You just need to make your new, healthier approach suit your life – just be honest with the things you can change easily and the things that may take more time.

Try and look for any negative patterns in your diary; such as always having a glass of wine when you come home from work, having a cappuccino each lunch break, or buying a chocolate bar on your way to work. Look at the times you eat and how much of any one type of food you consume, such as bread or milk. If you do that you'll probably notice that something that really stands out like a lack of fresh fruit or too much toast.

Just by make small changes to your eating habits you can cut a lot of calories out on an entire week, and lose weight because of it.

How to get ahead on your diet

Many people find it hard to cut out snacking or takeaways when they first start a diet, and often find their diet never really gets off the ground. A lot of dieters find supplementing with a natural appetite suppressant such as Hoodia, can help you keep focused and re-train any negative eating habits.

Normally the use of an appetite suppressant is only required for a couple of months until both your stomach and brain is used to the new calorie intake. Appetite suppressants have the best success rate of any type of diet pill and also help promote long term weight loss.

You can read more about Hoodia here.
