Do weight loss patches work?

Can you really just stick on a weight loss patch and get slim? It would certainly make losing weight a lot easier, but do they really work or are they just a con?

As a middle aged mum who has embarked on a number of so called "weight loss miracles" some ending in disaster (anyone who read my verdict on Alli may recall!), I decided to put my skepticism behind me and test one of the UK's most popular weight loss patches of the moment.

Actually recommended to me by a friend from my local Weight Watchers club, I had already done a fair amount of research and was anxious to try these out. I ordered the 4 week course for under £20 from Slimming.com and after delivery left it until the following morning to try them out.

Period taken for: 4 weeks (one packet) in addition to a calorie restricted diet.

Normally when restricting my calories to anything below 1500 I find it almost impossible to go the full week without giving up due to cravings. However the Silver Slimming patch seemed to do a good job at keeping the hunger at bay, and as an added bonus kept my energy levels high - usually non-existent when dieting. All in all I was actually surprised over the results and given more time may have lost a little more.

Positives

I experienced an increase in my usual energy levels which I attributed to the natural Fucus extract. Whether or not my metabolism was affected is debatable however, but the extra get-up-and-go was a welcome addition. The active ingredients are also quickly absorbed by your body and because they are not ingested first, are able to get to work immediately.

Negatives

The patch can feel a little odd at first and I did feel a slight tingle, however this did go away after an hour or so. On one occasion I had to move a patch which was causing a rash on my wrist, moving it further up the arm seemed to do the trick. Some people may find they will want to hide it from sight, unless you like the look of a recovering drug user!
